I started making some of the lovely eggs seen on RetroMama’s blog. Then, I got the bright idea that I needed some larger eggs. With permission from RetroMama, I started enlarging the pattern.
This might be a good time to explain that I’m not good at spatial things, so I thought it was just a matter of using Print Artist to enlarge it, keeping the same proportions. This little thing was the result.
Bit of a hip problem, isn’t there Ms Egg?
So, back to the pattern where I adjusted the width of the pattern, keeping the height. And I ended up with this.

Oh dear. What is this?
In the end, I took the original pattern and freehanded ¼” all the way around, then another ¼”, and I finally ended up with a lovely enlarged egg.

I can say that this was a good stash buster for those smaller pieces that accumulate. I used up a lot of them with my various prototypes.
They look well put together, though! I can’t help thinking of the hippy one as maybe a lima bean and the alien one as a sunflower seed… If only I knew why my brain immediately went for food metaphors…
Shoveling Ferret’s last blog post..Pain relief?
Food is better than what I was thinking. I keep seeing them with odd eyes, strange limbs, and alien names!
OMG. That is fantastic. I laughed so hard! They sure were fail eggs at first…
What a hilarious blog concept! Do you read Cake Wrecks? If you don’t, you are SERIOUSLY missing out! It’s like, my favorite blog, and it’s all about cakes gone wrong. I was thinking “I wish I could find more blogs like this”. Well… done! Yay! I guess I haven’t been over at Dollar Store Crafts enough because I actually found this one through One Pretty Thing.

It’s not hippy, it’s an ostrich egg.
Are you kidding?! Forget the egg concept! They’re all so great together! All those shapes! You should really use some of those tracing patterns to make cool mini-pillows. Like If you’re bed comforter or bed theme is all watermelon, you could use that “Alien-Egg” trace to make watermelon seeds! Ugh, I love them! It was a pretty awesome fail, if I do say so myself. And I LOVE that large “egg”. Great choice of fabric colours and patterns. Sell them on Etsy!
