Scarf Fail
After my disaster with the Knitting That Ate Toyko, I decided to do a scarf. Because scarves are long, easy and good practice, right?
My camera’s wonky so you can’t see the stitches as well as I’d like, but let me tell ya, some of ‘em ain’t pretty.

Wonky stitchery
I started off doing what I thought was 2X2 ribbing..2 rows of K followed by 2 rows of P. Oops. That’s not 2X2 ribbing, as I later found out.
I also dropped stitches like you wouldn’t believe and had to frog back quite a bit, so whatever pattern I had intended got all wonked up because of that. I’d frog back and forget if the row before it was K or P so I would just pick a stitch and go with it.

Even more wonky stitchery
It’s kinda ugly, in a cute way. I love the color yarn but I feel like I screwed up so badly on this scarf.
What is the yarn? Wool or not ? If it is wool, you might let it boil in the washing machine to felt it. Nobody would see the failed stitches and they would add some texture.
Just an idea.
It took me over a year of failed knitting attempts to actually make something that I could wear. I saved all my “disasters” and plan on frogging them and reusing the yarn. Don’t give up!
It’s acrylic. The first time I went to the Hobby Lobby to pick out stuff to start my first project with, I didn’t pay attention to what kind of yarn I was getting.
But did you have fun? That’s all that is important. Just sticks and string and fun.
It’s a scarf. Just wrap it around your neck and no one will ever notice! :)

Don’t feel too bad- that’s what all of my earliest crocheting projects looked like. I somehow managed to a weird mashup between slip stitches and double crochet/single crochet while decreasing willy nilly to get a seriously messed-up purse… thing. Lol. I ended up making it into a gigantic blue G-String…
Oh man! Maybe I should post that here, sounds like a Craft Fail if I’ve ever heard one! :D
Oh lord yes..I want to see that. *LOL*
Yeah, a lot of my first projects ended up looking wonky. Either live with it and wear it anyway, or rip it back and reuse. I should post my first pair of socks…they are weird looking:) I wear them anyway, and they are cozy even if they don’t fit to well…hehe.
