“We shall have a class party! Everyone bring treats!” my teacher said. “Hooray!” said I. I was excited. I had all these cake mixes, begging to be used. All that frosting. Moreover, I’d just seen a cool decorating hint on realsimple, Use Cookie Cutters to Decorate Cakes! Splendid! Look how nice!

Place cookie cutters on top and fill with sprinkles, powdered sugar, or cocoa powder. (Warning: This technique may convince guests you’ve taken a master class in cake decorating.)
Perfect! I shall fill each cupcake with plum jam and make lovely flowers on top with my cookie cutter, with happy lemon yellow chips for centers! It will be adorably precious! All will be amazed at my skills!
I made one batch. There didn’t seem to be enough. So I made another batch. 36 cupcakes. Each one painstakingly and tediously filled with jam and lovingly frosted. The result?

Sea creatures from the part of the sea that scuba divers do not want to go. The squidgy parts.

Nailed it.

Dude, they are the awesomest fire-spewing miniature volcano cupcakes I’ve ever seen.
They might not look too pretty, but they sure sound tasty!
Wow, now you have to eat them all yourself! Take them to work, they’ll eat anything!
They were tasty! At least, the first dozen or so… Ever seen/read “Matilda”? ;)

All I was thinking was “How’d they taste?” .. I hope they were enjoyed!
hahaha! I love them! :)
I was totally thinking volcano too!!! OMG I was laughing so hard at your story — very familiar. :) I swear, my son’s bd is coming up next week and I’m very tempted to BUY (what?!?!?!?) treats this year. Last year I went for the cute cake baked into an ice cream cone and it was a huge disaster
Hey! Is that Patrick Star’s family?
I bet they tasted AMAZING so no worries!
They do kind of look like Patrick! …or volcanos… maybe I should have pretended they were. :p
I was thinking they looked kind of Monsters Inc. Way cool.
far out! these are kinda sexy, like they have little nipples all over them! I bet they tasted great though…
As long as they taste good! I must say LOL’d for a good 5 minutes at your description of “Sea creatures from the part of the sea that scuba divers do not want to go”. Too funny…then the above with the sexy nipple comment. OMG.
I was giggling to myself and my boyfriend heard me from the other room and wanted to know what was so funny. Awesome.
I think they are just really awesome knobby sea stars! http://www.wetwebmedia.com/EchinodermPIX/Asteroids/Protoreaster%20nodosus%20SIPLG.JPG
They do quite look quite alike! :D
I have a batch of Easter cookies that I sent to class that luckily were edible. Decorated. Not so much. I love your cupcakes!
