Note: Not sure if this applies as crafting, but…definitely a fail!
So, I was working on some holiday art for a few long distance friends (yes, I know, really early). I had all of these really really cool ideas in my mind, including an attempt at vexel art and cute night scenes with snow and everything (I didn’t even get to the snow D:). I had a few sketches too, but I didn’t even get to those (things were going so badly I didn’t even bother trying =.=).
The vexel fail (in the top left hand corner) looked worse originally, but I tried to fix it by going over everything with blur. But, that messed up the mouth, so she looked really mad at something.
The one next to it, with the moon and everything, wasn’t that bad. But, I made everything way to big – to the point that it took half an hour to open the file, and another 45 minutes to save it. Eventually, I gave up, so the clouds are incomplete and the mountains beneath it are nonexistent. Then, some of my earlier attempts turned out to be too small, or just plain terrible.
That piece of green and black with white dots on the top row? Yeah, it was supposed to be two people lying on grass, but most of it didn’t turn out to great.
Naturally, I thought I might be able to salvage things, so I took all of the half decent parts and stuck them together in a huge collage (yep, that’s the huge picture). The first failure was filling in the spaces with seizure colors. It looked a lot cooler in my mind. In reality, it looks like a rainbow unicorn threw up or something. And then the rest – they just didn’t fit together. Just a bunch of really random sketches. It looks like a mess now.
I should have known better than to salvage things at this stage. Yep, I thought I could pull things off, cover it with red, and write some happy holiday message on it. That failed, too, for some really obvious reasons, including the fact that it didn’t look to great to start with. And my handwriting isn’t too great with a mouse. So I ended up drawing a penguin, which I somehow thought would transform everything into awesomeness. Alas, even the penguin turned out half deformed.
I guess I’m going to have to sit down and pull up something else now. In fact, I have a few ideas already…which is a bad sign, because most of my ideas don’t work out too well. ^^;
