Subject: Bloated BIRDday Cookies

I missed my deadline for finishing the cross-stitch I planned my boyfriend’s daughter’s birthday. Since my Easter supplies were still lying around, I thought some delicious, adorable baby chick cookies would serve as a temporary gift so I could both wish her a “Happy BIRDday” and buy some time to finish the delinquent gift.

This wasn’t my first time baking, or even using a classic (and usually fail-safe) butter-sugar cookie recipe, but every single chick came out huge and misshapen! The only thing worse than having no present would have been giving her some hideous baked blobs.

Although I went to the birthday dinner empty-handed, she was a great sport and at least enjoyed the ‘gift of laughter’ after seeing these cookiefails. Now to finish that cross-stitch…
