I intended to crochet a basic baby hat – nothing fancy. I looked up a few sets of instructions online: the general idea was to crochet in a circle until it was big enough and then crochet around the sides. It was my first time crocheting in the round, but it sounded simple enough.

It started out well, but then something happened. My circle got way too big, way too fast. Then the edges got wavy. I tried to start on the sides of the hat, hoping it would correct the waves (hey, the baby could still wear it in a few years), but the project looked less and less like a hat for any size.

Unwilling to accept my fail, I tried a second go at it, put the two attempts together, and here you have it – crochet octopus.

Design decision – not craft fail, LOL!! I think it’s cute – it’s an octopuff!
it just looks like you didn’t increase right, hats are tough to do if you’re not very good at crocheting yet
You could use it to cover a roll of toilet paper on the back of the tank.
