Pinterest Fail: Secret Recipe Chocolate Chip Cookie

jacques torres secret recipe cookies

When Andrea K. saw the recipe for the “secret” Jacques Torres’ chocolate chip cookies, she wanted to make them right away. After all, “Apparently they are supposed to be the best EVER.”

Unfortunately, when she tried to make them, they melted into a pile of liquid cookie dough in the center of the pan.

Thanks to Andrea K. for the fail, and A Tender Crumb for the inspiration photo.

  1. So happy to have discovered your blog via pinterest. As a crafter I have had my fair share of craft fails and food fails, so your post have me cracking up. Thanks for the chuckles.

This recipe is all over in all kinds of food blogs. Using all butter for cookies takes some getting used to- In baking science really does matter- Temperature of butter, as the dough-letting it sit in fridge- elevation where you live – too much baking soda – not enough baking powder. It is enough to give yo a migraine before you even get to the mixing bowl.

    Hahaha. Awesome! Grab a spoon.

I just found your blog. I haven’t laughed so much in years. Wait til I start sending you stuff. This cookie thing, been there, done that. With a diff recipe. Same results.

Omg I made these, they didn’t melt like this but it did attempt to murder my mixer!! Even with gradually putting in flour, my mixer wanted to die! FYI these were not the best ever, they were average, no better than store bought break and bake cookies! Never again!

Love these cookies. I make them at least every other week and they turn out fabulous and my whole family loves them. I used dark chocolate chips instead of the bittersweet and they taste much better and no salt. Sorry to hear they didn’t come out for anyone else.. they really are very good cookies.

This is by far the best cookie recipe I’ve ever made. I make it all the time. I really want to know how the blob happened! Butter too warm I’m guessing? Either way, I’m sure it was still tasty! Perhaps break pieces over some ice cream? Yum! Same as store bought? Not a chance!

Hilarious. I am (was…) actually about to make these tonight!

I love these cookies. I also leave out the salt. They are amazingly fluffy. I cut the recipe down to a 1/3 of the original. Everyone loves them in my family. I have never had them break down in the oven like that. :( Sad to see your hard work not turn out….
