Spooky Chili – boo hoo

Spooky Graveyard Chili by heb.com

I have to admit, when this photo landed in the old Craft Fail inbox with no back story, I wasn’t 100% sure what I was seeing. Is it salsa? Are those miniature Michelin men piped in vanilla icing? Are those green things on top chopped scallions? Skittles?

But, as is usually the case, all my best guesses were proven wrong. This is actually a Spooky Graveyard Chili recipe by heb.com, and those friendly little faces on top belong to mashed potato ghosts. The eyes are peas, incidentally, although Skittles would probably also be delicious. Or maybe I should just stick to writing and stay out of the kitchen. After all, I don’t even recognize chili when I see it.

I’m not sure where exactly reader Amy went wrong when she cooked up her batch, but one thing is for sure – something went very, very wrong.

Those aren’t ghosts, but this chili is still scary – for all the wrong reasons.
