The Pintester Takes on A Modern Bun

My hair is getting long, guys! I know this may not be as exciting to you as it is to me, but it’s been a while since I’ve had enough hair to do the cute little updos I see all the time on Pinterest. And, if I’m being honest, Pinterest is three-fourths of the reason why I’m growing my hair out.

(Another eighth is because I’m cheap and hate paying fifty bucks for a haircut every six weeks. The last eighth I’ll let you guess about.)

So today I got a wild hair (oh fine, I’ll stop) and decided to try this one:

The tutorial looks simple, and really cute. Now, granted, her hair is longer than mine… like, a lot longer. But mine is, you know… long-ish.

So I gave it a go.

The ponytail part I had in the bag. So far, so good.

Here’s where things got hairy. (Oh hell, I said I’d stop, didn’t I? Sorry.)

Yeah. Apparently you need lots more hair than I have. And hair that is not as weirdly bouncy as mine, even three days post-shampoo.

I pinned, I sprayed, I really tried to get this to work. Alas, it would not.

So let’s just get it over with and do the Nailed It thing, shall we?

LOL don’t you just love Pinterest? Good thing you tested it and not me. I have zero patience with hair.

    Not enough hair.

I did it after seeing this to see if I could pull it off and it turned out pretty good. Mine isn’t as long as at girls either, it’s about to the middle of my back. Give it awhile, you’ll be able to do it too! :)

If someone has to short hair and / or is not capable to follow such an easy tutorial – that does not mean it will not work.

There is endless more stupid stuff at Pinterest than this tutorial.

this is the problem most women have that want their hair to look like a picture they see , they dont have the right kind of hair to begin with . updo’s , very rarey work on hair that is only shoulder length unless you are a professional hair dresser. my hair is very long and very strait and silky and this style worked perfect on my hair so it was not a fail .

Agree not enough hair. I do these with my hair when I need a quick updo for work. My hair is down to my waist though. You would be surprised how much hair it takes to get the poofy bun. People with shorter hair do better buying an inexpensive hairpiece and then putting their hair worked in with it in a ponytail.
