Those American Girl Magazines can be such fun. They have lots and lots of recipes for young women to try. You know, for 10 year olds.
Reader Gigi was thinking the same thing. ”If 10 year olds could do it, why couldn’t I? I’m a college student,” she said.
The recipe wasn’t too hard: melt the chocolate, add a little bit of peppermint and some other goodies and voila! Peppermint bark.
She melted the chocolate and stirred and stirred, but uh-oh. It started solidifying before her very eyes.
She hadn’t even added anything yet.
Why not just reheat it?
Because then you burn it. And the chocolate re-solidifies in the process.
She only found that out AFTER the fact.
Quickly adding the peppermint and other ingredients, she invented a new recipe: peppermint chocolate lumps.
These very special lumps are impossible to mix with a spoon and you can’t pour them into a pan.
They have marshmallows, too, but they disappeared somewhere along the burning process.
Well, at least she got some brown minty lumps to eat.
Peppermint bark? Yeah, nailed it.
