No, not cinnamon. Think green.
If you guessed mint, you’d be right.

When Mel decided to make this starlight mint platter, she figured it wouldn’t be too hard: melt some candies on a cookie sheet, let ‘em cool and ta-da! A little candy platter on which to put delicious holiday snacks.
Apparently, there was some discussion between Mel and her husband about following the directions. “We decided to stick to the original directions,” she said.
Use the proper starlight mints – because if you use the wrong kind, that can mess things up. Check.
Lay them out in neat little rows. Check.
On top of wax paper. Check.
Steal a moment between all the holiday baking and place the mints in the oven. Check.
Let bake 8-10 minutes. Check.
Next up? Christmas cookies.

So much for following directions. Maybe there was some secret step somewhere that no one mentioned. Perhaps it’s just a lot harder than it looks.
Mel said her whole house smelled like dental floss afterwards and there was no platter to show for it – just blobs of white and green. That and a minty aroma for that just-brushed feeling.
