Dalek Cake – a true mutant

dalek cake

Who wouldn’t love a birthday cake that looks like a Dalek? Anyone? Anyone? Are those robotic, mechanical squeaks I hear, or crickets chirping?

Well, if you were a fan of Doctor Who, you recognize this villain. The Daleks were mutant aliens encased in impenetrable shells, who rolled around on the show constantly yelling “Exterminate!” while the Doctor and his pals escaped the terror by… climbing stairs. Apparently when they arrived to take over the planet, the Daleks didn’t realize they might need some legs.

Even if you never saw the program, you can tell right away that this Dalek cake by Stacked Cakes is pretty impressive. Reader Christine loved it so much, she decided to try to make it herself. After all, what does a team of professional cake sculptors have that the rest of us don’t have?

Well, for starters, they have a cake that looks like a Dalek instead of an extreme close-up of a kernel of popcorn with pretzel sticks jutting out of it. Oh well, as long as it doesn’t have green alien blobs inside it like Doctor Who’s Daleks, I’d still eat it!

Very funny. But why would anyone assume they can suddenly make cakes like a professional cake decorator on their first attempt, just because they saw a picture on Pinterest? lol

After nearly suffocating with laughter, my husband and I have decided it is more like a mutated Peep than a Dalek. I think she should get cheers for bravery, though, attempting such a difficult cake at all! I would never have the guts to try making a Dalek cake!
