Watermelon Shark: a deep-sea disaster

Watermelon Shark

What’s pink and green and threatens to bite your guests’ hands off if they dare to sample your party food? A watermelon shark, of course, like this one from Genesee Valley Parent Magazine.

One loyal CraftFail reader saw a fruity Jaws like this on Pinterest, and decided it would be the perfect cute, clean, entertaining centerpiece for her party. Knowing it was sink or swim, she held her breath, dove in, and started carving her very own festive underwater chomper.

watermelon shark fail

Instead of an adorable, tidy, fish-faced fruit bowl, our friend ended up with this deep-sea disaster. Despite its need for some serious dental work, it looks like it already chewed up the party food and spat it out. At least the kids’ fingers are safe – nobody’s reaching for these sweet treats!

Awww, it cute. Like the plant from Little Shop of Horrors. Feed me Sea-more.

@babysteps – That’s exactly it! I couldn’t place what it reminded me of, so thanks for the Little Shop of Horrors reference – that was gonna bug me.

    P.S. “Sea-more.” I heart puns. :)

I’ve done this one and it’s actually super easy, and this fail is only about 3 steps from a total win. 1.shave the rind a bit lower on the teeth 2 finish the project–add your eyes and fin! 3 just sacrifice a whole new melon that you can dice up pretty because this one has been pureed.
