A New Twist On Screwing Up Cookies

cookie pretzelIf you’re bored with delicious, mouth-watering chocolate chip cookies because they’re so predictably round, Very Best Baking has the answer with their recipe for chocolate chip cookie pretzels. Essentially, all you have to do is roll refrigerated, pre-made cookie dough into ropes, twist the ropes into pretzel shapes, bake, and enjoy. All the yumminess of a cookie, in the exciting shape of a pretzel!

At least, that’s what reader Sarah of Makin’ Projiks expected to end up with. Instead, her pretzels kind of had a meltdown.

    I am still bitter about wasting good cookie dough on those cow patties! :-)

    Hm. I don’t think that was you at all. Store bought dough tends to be very soft.

    I think a good rule of thumb for any “chocolate chip cookie dough made into different 3D shapes” is to use a good sugar cookie dough with added chocolate chips.

    I agree with kittentoes… getting cookies to keep their shape takes the right recipe and a lot of staying in the fridge right before baking.
