I’m excited to announce that bacon-related technology has advanced to the point that, instead of just sprinkling bacon on our salads, we can now sprinkle salads IN our bacon. This is all thanks to recipes for bacon cups, like this one from not martha, in which bacon is wrapped around the back of an upside-down muffin tin before popping it in the oven.
Some people, like CraftFail reader Mim of It’s New and Different!, already knew about this bacon revelation. Not only that, but she used it as an excuse to celebrate International Bacon Day.
As if that weren’t reason enough for Mim to be my new best friend, she went the extra mile and planned to replace the salad with… wait for it… cinnamon ice cream.
Now you’re talkin’, Mim!
In the interest of eating bacon as quickly as possible, she wasted no time looking up the directions and decided to just wing it instead.
Now semi-permanently fused to the bottom of the pan, the bacon had to be scraped off with a knife, resulting in bacon bits.
Hmm, maybe we could’ve put our cravings on hold long enough to wrap the muffin tin in foil – you know, like the directions recommend. Although, I’ll happily take bacon sprinkled on top of ice cream over no bacony ice cream at all!
Mim, for the win!
