This is the creation of proud baker and destroyer of cakes, Bunmi Laditan, of the fabulous personal blog baring the same name, as well as The Honest Toddler. Yes, she’s very busy writing when not busy tormenting her family with baked goods. And no, it’s not a cake pop. It’s a cake – that popped.
At least that’s what I thought when I first saw it and told Bunmi, “It’s like the deliciousness popped and started oozing out all over the plate,” to which she responded, “It is a lot like a food blister, yes.”
And that is how “It is a lot like a food blister” became my favorite phrase of all time.
Now, grab a pen and paper, because you’re going to want to take notes on her special recipe, which she describes as a “box mix with extras.” What kind of extras, you might ask? “I made the icing with water and powdered sugar,” she explains. And don’t forget the chunky, damp sprinkles!
However, I think there’s more to the recipe than she’s letting on, because her next photo revealed a surprise lurking inside.
Bunmi’s caption for this glorious, Pinterest-ready photo: Christmas on the inside because my family deserves it.
We may never know exactly how to recreate this crumbling mass of festering holiday sweetness – as Bunmi explains, “Professional bakers like me rely on instincts, not ‘recipes’… This icing is called ‘Snowman’s Diarrhea’ and has a patent pending so don’t copy.” Which is too bad, because I burnt so many calories laughing I probably could’ve torn through seven or eight of these beauties.
While wearing a blindfold, of course.
